The Yurok Tribe Alliance CDFI helped my small, all native, women led business stay alive during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds through the program allowed me to hire folks to develop a website and manage my social media accounts and provided a mechanism to sell my art safely online. - Louisa McCovey, Owner & Designer

I would like to thank The Alliance CDFI for providing assistance to me while expanding a Yurok business here on our homeland. I have always had a "can do attitude" for Native people. I was able to take the opportunity to utilize the CDFI's business lending program which gave me the ability to give back to our people. I'd like to encourage other small business owners to take the chance on pursuing any and all dreams they have.

In 2010, Jan and Marty Wortman's family purchased the History Requa Inn, located on the Yurok Reservation. For the first time in over 160 years, the property was owned by a Yurok Tribal member. The last couple of years have been challenging, but with the assistance and support of The Alliance CDFI we were able to survive the pandemic, and we will continue to keep our family legacy intact. - Jan Wortman, Owner of the Requa Inn
Joseph Marrufo Trucking began in October of 2020. We are a Native owned and operated business, and together as a family we have all pitched in to make our dream a reality. Staring a business takes commitment and we all made sacrifices along the way, but it was worth every bit of it! My wife Kathy runs the business from home and does all the paperwork and administrative duties. Our two youngest boys are the truck detailers, future business owner/operators, and are my daily motivation to keep the truck tires rolling. We have become a successful new thriving family business. The Alliance CDFI played a huge part in our beginning phases. We are forever thankful for the support they provided in helping us purchase our first super 10 dump truck (more to come). Thanks again CDFI and Yurok Tribe! We must be willing to work hard and do the footwork to succeed!
